Saving Ancestral Seeds In Mexico

This Kellogg Foundation-funded project documented the efforts of organizations in Oaxaca, Mexico, as they work to preserve the genetic heritage of Mexico’s rich agricultural traditions.

Groundswell’s program included a partnership of eight NGOs working with 1,202 smallholder farm families across 55 communities in three states in southern Mexico.

Documenting Resilience

The Nathan.works crew spent 5 days shooting in 7 different communities throughout the state of Oaxaca.

We’re quite familiar with Oaxaca from our regular work with Proyectos Para Un Futuro Mejor. But this project exposed us to new locations, organizations, and friends.

The people we met have a great passion for the power of seeds to preserve and communicate cultural identity. It was a joy to listen to and understand this rich heritage.
